Subject: Single Frame

First, a big thank you to the fellow (appologies, I made a note of your name
and then promptly forgot it) who reported on the NewTek party.  I had planned
to attend, but was just too busy to spend 8 hours on the road last night.
Too add insult to injury, my wife got the mail at about 6:00, and there was
my printed invitation/announcement.  Oh well, I got a lot of needed work done.

What was I doing?  Well, while waiting for ramestores to save (I'm in production
on a touch screen info-center that has to go in in two weeks) I was soldering
and probing with my voltmeter.  What I ended up with was a little box (parts
less than $20 retail) that can control my Sony V5000 camera to advance one
frame at at time to rotoscope 1 field framestores from motion video.  It can
also do single frame reccording on my Sony EVO-9700 dual deck Hi8 editor.
Ok, the software is totally rudimentary right now, but after a month of
using it and adding/changing the interface, it will proabably be at a level
of marketability.  So what I am interested in knowing is... Does any one care?
One of the early issues of Video Toaster user had an article about using
the Sony EVO-9700 with the Toaster, and that's my set up here (with my tasty
new Toaster 4000 :-).  I've long been kind of bummed that the 9700 doesn't
allow for an external edit controler, so even though it has time code, and
is +/-0 frames accurate, it couldn't single frame record.  Now it can.
If there is sufficient interest, I might package and market it, but I'm
not interested in hastling with the FCC or UL to put out this little box.
It might also become an article for VTU or something.  Any one interested
in seeing it go either way, or have any comments or suggestions?
